Terms

What LUSU is, what we ask of the people who use it, and what we do when those expectations are not met.

Draft

Draft. To be replaced with terms reviewed by LUSU’s legal adviser. The plain-language summary below describes how the product works today, so that nobody has to guess while the reviewed version is written.

What LUSU is

LUSU is a job marketplace and a talent database for Nigeria. Employers post jobs and review the people who apply. Job seekers browse those jobs, and can also put themselves forward for any of the 108 positions in LUSU’s catalogue so that employers hiring for that role can find them, even when nobody has posted the job.

LUSU is not an employment agency and is not a party to anything agreed between an employer and a candidate. We do not guarantee that a job will be filled, that an application will be read, or that any particular employer will get in touch.

Accounts

  • An account belongs to one person. Use your own name and a working email address and phone number.
  • Keep your password to yourself. Anything done from your account is treated as done by you.
  • You must be old enough to work legally in Nigeria to use LUSU as a job seeker.
  • You can close your account at any time by writing to support@lusu.app.

If you are looking for work

  • Your profile, work history and CV should describe you accurately. Employers make decisions from them, and a profile that turns out to be false is grounds for suspension.
  • Applying to a job sends your profile and CV to that employer. By default it also lists you in the talent database for that position and city; you choose this when you apply and you can withdraw the listing later.
  • You can withdraw an application while it is still being considered.
  • Do not upload a CV, photo or any other file that belongs to someone else.

If you are hiring

  • Jobs are listed immediately. Until LUSU has verified a company its jobs carry a “Not verified yet” label; once verified they carry a Verified badge. Employers see a limited candidate profile (job title, skills, city and years of experience) and can open a candidate’s contact details and CV by spending points.
  • Post real, open positions. A job must describe work you are actually hiring for, at the salary and in the location stated.
  • Never ask a candidate for money, for bank details, or for a payment of any kind as part of applying or being considered. Doing so ends your access to LUSU.
  • Use candidate information only to consider that person for work at your company. Do not pass profiles, CVs or contact details to anyone else.
  • Review the people who apply. Every job publicly shows its applicant count and hiring stage, and candidates are told when their application is opened and when their status changes.

Jobs that go quiet

If a job sits for 14 days with no activity from the employer, LUSU asks whether the position is still available. One confirmation keeps it open. If the employer does not respond after reminders, the job is closed and everyone still waiting on a decision is told where they stand. This is how LUSU keeps listings honest, and it applies to every job.

What you post

You keep ownership of what you upload. You give LUSU permission to store it and show it to the people described on the privacy page so that the product can work.

Do not post anything unlawful, misleading, discriminatory, or that you do not have the right to share. LUSU can remove a job, a listing or a profile that breaks these rules.

Suspension

LUSU can suspend an account or refuse a company’s verification when these expectations are not met, particularly where a candidate has been asked for money or where a listing is not a real job. Where we can, we will tell you why.

Changes to these terms

This page will be replaced with a version reviewed by LUSU’s legal adviser. When that happens, and when anything material changes afterwards, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
